With just a couple of weeks to go until the biggest chocolate fest of the year, many of us will be spending this weekend searching for that last-minute Easter/ spring holiday.
Whether you fancy somewhere hot and sunny, or cold and ski worthy, there are numerous destinations coming to life at this time of year, and so to give you a little bit of inspiration we thought we would share our top 10 ideas for spring holidays in 2012.
Skiing in Austria – Yes, we are biased, but Austria is just beautiful right now and if you want to combine beautiful scenery and great skiing with even better après skiing, you will struggle to find a better place than the Austrian Alps! The weather is warm and sunny, the slopes are perfect, and as always, the Austrian hospitality is the best in Europe – Willkommen!
City Tour of London – If you fancy a city break in Europe this Easter, head over to good old Blighty and enjoy the sights and sounds of London. A beautiful city that combines old English charm with the modern twists of a multi-cultural society, London is a great city to visit in spring, and a lot less hectic than it will be once the Olympics arrive in July!
Sunshine in Algarve, Portugal – A great time of year to head south in search of sunshine, why not take your spring holiday in the Algarve this year? Warm, sunny and just a short hop for those of us living in Europe, Portugal is a great destination to visit and we just love Vilamoura in the Algarve.
Beaches of Miami, Florida – If you fancy heading off over the Atlantic, why not treat yourself to a week of fun in Miami where great beaches, warm sunshine and lively nightlife come as standard. A great destination for those who love the US and it is a mere 8-hour flight from London.
Take a Cruise – If you have never taken a cruise before, this spring could be the perfect opportunity to do so. Taking advantage of the last-minute deals, you can cruise the Mediterranean, the Caribbean or even the Pacific Ocean – the world, as they say, is your oyster!
Safari in South Africa – Taking a safari in South Africa is one of the best experiences of my life to date, and it costs far less than neighbouring Botswana. With daily flights to Cape Town or Johannesburg you can be in the Kruger Park in no time, or for a Malaria free safari you can head on down to the Eastern Cape, a mere hop from Cape Town.
Wine Tasting in Australia – It may be a long way to go for a spring break, but Australia is a great place to visit at any time of the year, and if you enjoy New World Wines, you will love the Yarra Valley close to Melbourne or Margaret River south of Perth. Combining beautiful scenery, with stunning vineyards and great wines, Australia is well worth the journey.
Adventure Holiday in New Zealand – Again, New Zealand is a long way to go (especially for us Europeans), but if you are looking for some adventure this spring, you will find numerous thrill seeking activities waiting for you in NZ, from white water rafting in Queenstown, to bungee jumping in Auckland.
Samba in Rio de Janeiro – Brazil is a popular destination for those looking for spring sunshine, and if you would like to do something different this Easter, such as learning to Samba, Rio de Janeiro is the place you should be heading to.
Destination unknown – If you really cannot decide where to go or what to do this spring, ditch the chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs, pack a small bag, grab your passport and credit card and head off to the airport. Jump on the first plane that becomes available and head off into the unknown – it might not be something everyone would consider, but it will certainly make spring 2012 memorable!
Spring and the Easter holidays are a great time to get away, and if you are one of the lucky ones going somewhere exotic, don’t forget to send us a postcard!
