The Long Weekend is Here – Lovely Jubi-lee!

The first of June has finally arrived (pinch-punch!), and while the temperatures in England may have dropped, the excitement is rising for the extra-long weekend ahead and the celebrations that go with the Queens Diamond Jubilee.

With horse racing at Epsom, street parties, parades, and pageants all lined up to honour our monarch and the 60 years she has reigned, this four-day event will be viewed around the globe, and will hopefully show the world the very best of what Britain has to offer.

Famous for pomp and ceremony, England really does know how to put on a show, and if you are heading off to the capital to watch the event you are in for a treat!

A select group of senior royals will join the Queen as she sails along the river Thames in a spectacle that is already being heralded by locals as a “once in a lifetime event”, and if you manage to secure a good spot on the riverbank, the photo opportunities are sure to be plentiful.

On Monday (4th June), a concert at Buckingham Palace will see some of the biggest names in music perform for the Queen, but if you didn’t manage to get a hold of tickets worry not, you will be able to soak up the atmosphere by watching the concert on big screens in Hyde Park, St James’s Park and The Mall.

If you are one of the lucky ones heading to the capital, please take note of the government issued advisory notice, which asks people to plan their journey in advance, not to drive into London, and check the times of the last trains home – or you could find yourself sharing a bench with 20 others!

Have a wonderful Jubilee weekend and let us know what you are up to! I am off to dig out my Union Jack and get the sausage rolls in the oven!
