Fitness Holidays and Activity Tours – Proving Popular in First Week of 2013

Fitness Holidays and Activity Tours are proving very popular in the first week of 2013, as those who have overindulged during the festive period combine two of the most popular New Year’s resolutions – dieting and getting fit – with their next holiday abroad.

From hiking in the Himalayas to kayaking the Scottish coast, the demand for activity, fitness and adventure holidays is now higher than ever before, and if you want to be fabulously fit in Twenty Thirteen, it might be time to pack away your bikini and book, and get your trainers on instead!

Those looking for something extreme will appreciate a mountaineering expedition such as Mount Kilimanjaro, or even, hiking to the Base Camp of Mount Everest. This year marks the 60th anniversary of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s first ascent of Everest, so there are many “anniversary trips” to the base camp that sporty individuals can enjoy during 2013.

If you prefer biking to hiking, there is lots going on to motivate you in 2013.  The Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle tour on 10th March is a one-day, 109km cycle event around the Western Cape of South Africa, and there is usually plenty of A-Lister’s amongst the 35,000 entrants.  If you prefer cooler climes, you could always head to the Yukon Territory in north-west Canada, and pedal through grizzly bear territory.  With traditional yurts for accommodation and delicious Yukon dining along the way, it’s a great way to burn off those mince pies!

Swimmers and water-sports enthusiasts will appreciate the many water-based activity holidays available such as white-water rafting in New Zealand, kite surfing in Mauritius, or even swimming the British Virgin Islands.  There is something to suit every level of fitness and every preference for warm or cold climates in 2013.

Fitness Holidays and Activity Tours sound so much more appealing than weight watching and gym memberships, so why not ditch the diet, and book a holiday instead!
