If you like the idea of getting married abroad, but do not fancy the ‘fabulousness’ of Las Vegas or the ‘predictability’ of a Caribbean beach wedding, why not head on down to South Africa and say you ‘I do’s’ in one of the most spectacular settings on planet earth.
From luxurious hotels overlooking the sea, to romantic vineyards, and remote Game Reserves in the South African Bush, there is something to suit every taste and budget in the rainbow nation – and as it is relatively straightforward for foreign nationals to get married there, your dream wedding in an exotic location could be easier than you think.
During our recent trip to South Africa, we came across three idyllic wedding locations, and whether you are looking to hold a small and intimate wedding ceremony in Sabi Sand, or a huge affair for family and friends in the Cape Winelands, you will find it all right here:
Richard Branson’s son recently got married in is fathers Private Lodge – Ulusaba in the exclusive Sabi Sands Game Reserve on the border of Kruger National Park. A popular destination for those looking for a romantic wedding ceremony in the middle of the Africa Bush, Sabi Sand offers several smaller lodges, such as Chitwa Chitwa, where you and 20 or so of your closest friends and family can host an unforgettable wedding (if you have a substantial budget!).
If you dream of marrying at the foot of a waterfall surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, the Cascade Country Manor in the Western Cape Winelands might just be your perfect wedding location.
With the majestic Klein Drakenstein Mountains as a backdrop, Cascade Country Manor and Spa is an exquisite property that comprises of fifteen elegantly furnished hotel rooms set in pristine grounds complete with a cascading waterfall where you can say your vows.
If you decide to marry at Cascade Manor during the summer months, you and up to 100 guests can enjoy your wedding brunch in a romantic Al fresco setting, and as it is just a short hop from Cape Town (30 minutes or so by car), you can combine your wedding with a break in the ‘Mother City’.
Then we come to Dawson’s Game & Trout Lodge, a magnificent and luxurious property set at the foot of the Nelshoogte pass in Mpumalanga, approximately four hours drive from Kruger National Park.
Remote and extremely romantic, Dawson’s Lodge is perfect for those who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and marry their best friend in an elegant venue surrounded by manicured gardens. Service is second to none at Dawson’s, and I can‘t think of a better place on earth to spend your first days as ‘man and wife’ or ‘partners for life’!
Too bad I’m already married!
A blessing or renewal, maybe…!
I do believe wedding is most important occasion for couples, If someone planning to have their wedding in this place, surely you will never forget the romantic place as it is. “PARADISE in SOUTH AFRICA” love this!!!1
Thanks Claude! We think South Africa is paradise too! 🙂
