Travelling Solo – Holiday Ideas for Singles

The Single-Traveller Market is one of the world’s fastest growing travel trends, and while the travel industry may have been slow to catch up, there are now endless opportunities for those who want to explore the big wide world on their own.

Solo Travellers

From group tours and escorted adventures, to self-drive holidays and yoga retreats, there really is something to suit everyone these days, and as a solo traveller, you can decide if you want to share your trip with like-minded others, or take a trip all by yourself in your own travel bubble.

If you are an active single traveller who enjoys the great outdoors and adventure, a trip to Mount Kilimanjaro or Everest Base Camp could be exactly the holiday you are looking for.  Many climbing companies offer scheduled departures, where you can join up with other mountaineers, or for a few dollars extra, you could opt for a Private Climb and have the entire mountain to yourself (well, not quite, but you know what I mean!).

If you are a beach loving singleton, who enjoys nothing more than spending your days on the beach with a good book and a refreshing cocktail, you will get a whole lot more for your money in Bali and the Philippines than you will in say, Europe or the Caribbean.

Unfortunately, many resorts still hit singles with ‘single occupancy fees’ which can really push up the price of your beach break, but your travel agent or tour operator may be able to get this waived for you – so don’t be afraid to ask!

Yoga Retreats and Wellness Spa’s are perfect for single travellers who like to mingle with like-minded people from around the world, and if your New Year’s Resolution is have a healthy body and healthy mind, this could be the holiday for you. There are some amazing retreats in Australia, Mauritius, and India, and most of them base their rates ‘per person’ and not ‘per double room’.

Singles that would rather indulge than detox, should consider a Connoisseur Tour or Gourmet Holiday for their 2014 break.  From wine tasting tours of Mendoza Argentina, to Cooking Tours in Tuscany Italy, the choice is endless, and you will have the opportunity to quaff your way around some of the world’s most beautiful regions.
