If you are planning on visiting Peru anytime soon, there is one city that you simply shouldn’t miss, and that is the ‘White City’ of Arequipa.
Located some 2325m above sea-level in the magnificent Andes Mountain Range, the colonial capital of Peru’s Arequipa region is one of the most picturesque cities in all South America, and whether you use it as a base to visit the giant Condors of the Colca Canyon, or as an acclimatization stop before you attempt the Inca Trail… you will not be disappointed!
Arequipa is the perfect place to try new foods, meet new people, and make new friends, and so it is the perfect destination for singles, couples and small groups alike. If you have the opportunity to visit one of the local festivals during your stay, do not hesitate to go! Live music, endless food and drink stalls, and a fun atmosphere are but guaranteed, as is a Pisco Sour – or two!
