Trying to compile a list of our top 5 favourite beaches is not an easy task! The world is huge and many countries have those picture perfect beaches that we all dream about, but in our mission to find “the most perfect beach” we have listed our top 5 contenders (so far).
Our fifth place goes to the magnificent Coral Coast in Australia, now I know that it is not exactly “a beach” but rather a huge expanse of coastline, but it is just so breathtakingly beautiful that we had to add it to our list. There are numerous pristine, un-crowded and unspoilt beaches to enjoy if you drive up the Coral Coast, and just when you think you have found the perfect one you turn the corner to find a white sandy cove that is even more stunning.
Brazil takes our fourth spot with the glorious beach of Costa do Sauipe. A stretch of Bahian coastline that sits just 75km from Salvador, Costa do Sauipe combines sand dunes that are almost pink in colour, with perfect coconut trees to create a landscape quite unlike any other. It is easy to find your own private spot for an afternoon of sun, sea, sand and the gentle rhythm of the Samba.
Heading over to the Caribbean, our third favourite beach is set on the picturesque island of Grand Cayman. 7 Mile Beach is a long coral-sand beach that sweeps into translucent aquamarine waters, the sand is pristine almost like white sugar and the sea has an average water temperature of 27°C, so it is no surprise that it recently picked up an award for “the Caribbean’s best beach”!
Our second spot takes all the way across the Pacific Ocean to the majestic Fijian island of Monuriki. A member of the Mamanucas islands where the film ‘Cast Away’ was filmed, Monuriki is tiny but has one of the most beautiful white beaches imaginable. Combine that with fantastic snorkelling opportunities and the brilliant blue Pacific Ocean, and we think you are getting close to paradise.
After much deliberation, our number one favourite beach goes to the awe-inspiring beach of Shoal Bay in Anguilla. Picture-postcard perfect, Shoal Bay is one of those beaches that you feel privileged to have discovered. Set on the small yet beautiful Caribbean island of Anguilla, the pure white sands of Shoal Bay stretch approximately 2 miles so it is easy to find a place to relax, order a cocktail and enjoy your own little piece of paradise!
With so much of the world still to discover, we are sure to have a new top 5 list soon, in the meantime let us know what your 5 favourite beaches are and together we can find “the world’s best beach”!
