July & August holidays set to soar as the Olympics take over London

As a patriotic Brit, I am very proud that the Olympics are going to be held in London this year.  A chance for England to shine and a great opportunity for London hotels, restaurants, bars and stores to fill out with an eclectic mix of people from around the world, it is sure to be a memorable event, but it seems not everyone agrees…

A recent survey carried out by ABTA suggests that “1 in 10 people intend to leave the country to avoid the chaos of the London 2012 Olympics”, and while the number seems pretty high, I can understand that the overcrowded towns, congested roads and packed-out public transport is enough to make anyone head off on their summer holidays.

So with just 172 days to go until the Olympics start, now is the perfect time to start thinking about your ‘plan of escape’ and book your dream holiday to a more peaceful location!

So where would you like to go on holiday this year?  July and August are always great months to go away, and if you would like to try something more exotic we can highly recommend South Africa!  While it may be considered ‘winter’ below the equator at that time of year, Cape Town, the Eastern Cape and the Garden Route enjoy mild weather and with so much to see and do, you really won’t have time to think about sunbathing!

With cheaper airfares, reduced hotel prices and great game viewing possibilities, our summer months can be the perfect time to discover South Africa – and when you are faced with the choice of a herd of elephants on safari, or a crowd of Olympic tourists in London – what would you chose?
