Destination Review – London, England

Recently voted by Trip Advisor’s Travellers Choice as the world’s number one destination for 2012, our capital city of London is finally getting its fair share of the limelight.

Set to be a year that will go down in history, 2012 will see London host the Olympics for the first time in 64 years, and also celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with the traditional pomp and ceremony that the British are famous for, so those visiting during the months of June, July, and August are in for a treat!

So what should you expect when you arrive in London?  Well, it’s big, busy, and a little bit barmy (thanks to cricket!), but if you are heading to the city centre you can expect to find luxury hotels, fantastic restaurants, and more shopping venues that you could possibly visit.

Then we come to the famous sights of Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and the London Eye – all of which are worth a visit before you head across to the West End to watch one of the many shows performed each night.

The great thing about London is that you do not have to spend a fortune to enjoy much of what it has to offer.  The atmosphere is, in itself, lively and inviting, and if you park yourself down at one of the pavement cafés with a pot of English Tea, you could easily spend an entire afternoon just people watching.

London is a shopper’s paradise offering everything from high-end luxury goods down Oxford Street, to vintage clothes on Camden market, so if you are travelling from overseas we would have to recommend that you bring an empty suitcase and a full wallet!

So the countdown is on to make 2012 one of London’s finest, and now the eternal flame has finally arrived, the Olympic frenzy can really begin!
