I love travel quotes, and while St. Augustine’s “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page” remains my firm favourite, I recently came across some modern quotes that lead me to believe that travel not only broadens the mind, but it seems to make us a whole lot funnier too!
From fun and quirky, to deep and meaningful, here are 20 new travel quotes that caught my eye…
You can see it for miles. Like, it goes over the hills and stuff ….but so does the M6. – Karl Pilkington on the Great Wall of China
Writing and travel broaden your ass if not your mind and I like to write standing up. – Ernest Hemingway
Australia is about as far away as you can get. I like that. – Andre Benjamin
A journey is like a marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it. – John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley
Travelling is like flirting with life. It’s like saying, ‘I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station’. – Lisa St. Aubin de Teran
Jet lag is for amateurs. Dick Clark
We could bore ourselves to death, drink ourselves to death, or have a bit of an adventure. – Terry Darlington, Narrow Dog to Carcassonne

You don’t choose the day you enter the world and you don’t chose the day you leave. It’s what you do in between that makes all the difference. – Anita Septimus
Travel is the frivolous part of serious lives, and the serious part of frivolous ones. – Anne Sophie Swetchine
People travel to faraway places to watch, in fascination, the kind of people they ignore at home. – Dagobert D. Runes

We owe something to extravagance, for thrift and adventure seldom go hand in hand. – Jennie Churchill
The most hazardous part of our expedition to Africa was crossing Piccadilly Circus. – Joseph Thomson
A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step. – Lao Tzu

The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams. – Oprah Winfrey
My personal favourites … (Although I am of course biased!) “The only man I envy is the man who has not yet been to Africa … for he has so much to look forward to” & “If you only visit two continents – visit Africa twice!” … Looking forward to seeing Equatours in Africa Soon!! :o)
