Getting Hot & Spicy in Louisiana

The home of Cajun and Creole Cuisine, Dixieland Jazz, the Mississippi River and the world-famous Mardi Gras of New Orleans, Louisiana is an action-packed holiday destination for those who enjoy to eat, drink and be merry!

One of the most beautiful US States that I have visited (so far!), and a destination that has much to offer foreign tourists, Louisiana is fun, friendly and filled with things to see and do – and the food is simply to die for!

Once you have done the casinos and steamboat rides of New Orleans, the Cathedral of St John in Lafayette and the museums of Baton Rouge, we would have to recommend you head on over to the home of ‘hot and spicy’ – Avery Island, where you can take a tour of the famous Tabasco Pepper Sauce.

An island made of salt and surrounded by swamps and marshes, Avery Island is a magical place, and if you enjoy the delicious spicy twang of Tabasco Sauce, you will think you have died and gone to Chilli heaven!

After watching a video on how Tabasco Sauce is made (from just three ingredients – distilled vinegar, red peppers and salt!), you can sample all seven flavours in the gift store, along with a range of delicious snacks, condiments, cinnamon candies, or my particular favourite – Tabasco Ice Cream!

So, if you are looking for a completely different holiday destination in 2013, head on over to Louisiana – you will be welcomed with open arms, a home cooked meal, and a little bit of spice!
