Winter Sun or Winter Snow? Holiday Ideas for 2013 / 2014

Did you know that there are only 79-days to go until Christmas?  No?  Well, I didn’t either until I Googled it and found that there are endless websites dedicated to the Christmas Countdown, but yes,  it is true, we have just 11 weeks left to buy all our Christmas presents, prepare our Christmas day feast, and get our fancy frocks ready for the party season!

However, Christmas doesn’t appeal to everyone over the age of 12, and if you find the ‘Season of Goodwill’ more frustrating than festive, why not leave the turkey and trimmings to someone else this year, and book yourself a winter holiday instead!

There are endless winter holiday options available for those who would like to escape the chaos of Christmas, and when you consider that the average person spent £445 on Christmas gifts alone in 2012 (according to moneysupermarket.com), your skiing holiday or beach break could end up costing less than staying at home!

So what is your idea of the perfect Christmas holiday – Winter Sun or Winter Snow?  Here are a couple of ideas to give you some inspiration…

Winter Sun

If your idea of the perfect winter holiday includes sunshine, beaches, cocktails and alfresco dining, you need to pack your bags and head south.  Brazil, Australia, Bali and Mauritius are all popular choices for winter sun breaks, but if you fancy spicing up your life, we would have to recommend you make Tanzania’s island of Zanzibar your number one winter holiday destination.

Winter Snow

Skiing holidays are perfect for sporty individuals who like to combine alpine adventures with great food, fabulous hotels, luxurious spas and all the après ski you could possibly wish for!  France and Italy are popular skiing destinations, but we think Austria stands out for its pristine slopes, value for money ski passes, and huge variety of accommodations – it’s simply Wunderbar!
