They say life begins at Forty (or is that 30?), but according to a new travel report released this week, it seems it is the over 50s that are living their lives to the fullest!
No longer content with a week on the Costa Del Sol or a fortnight touring the Mediterranean aboard a coach with the ‘senior’ crowd, the over 50s of today are looking for excitement and adventure when it comes to their annual holidays, and they are not afraid to travel to far-flung destinations to get it!
Trekking in the ancient city of Macchu Picchu in Peru, partying in Las Vegas, and even clubbing in Ibiza made it to the top of the ‘most wanted’ over 50s holidays list, and with many couples having more ‘free cash’ to spend in their 50s and more time to enjoy themselves, the general opinion seems to be – why not!
Why not indeed! I love the fact that the ‘more mature’ generation are being more adventurous and daring with their holiday choices, and the fact that many of our guests choose to ride in the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour in South Africa for their 50th birthday – just goes to show that age is nothing more than a number!
The world is big, beautiful and just waiting to be discovered, and if, like me, you have the YOLO (you only live once) attitude, then it’s time to make the most of it!
Have you found the urge to travel more in your 50s? If so, drop us a line and let us know, we would love to hear what sits at the top of your Bucket List!
well, we’ve got more disposable income in our 50’s…. top of the bucket list? Macchu Picchu, Angkor Wat and the Mekong river …. we’ll see…
Yes, Gen X have more disposable income to travel far and wide. In addition, with modern technology, the world is now a smaller place.
best regards,
