I’ve celebrated it in the Canary Islands, I’ve celebrated it in Cape Town and I’ve even celebrated it in Sydney Australia, but I am still searching for the best place in the world to celebrate New Year’s Eve, where we can dance the night away, watch a fireworks extravaganza, and make all those resolutions we have no intention of keeping!
A time for “out with the old, and in with the new”, a new year provides us all the opportunity to start afresh, make new plans, and even make life-changing decisions, and so it is only right that we see in the new year in style, and go out of the last one with a bang!
There are several destinations sitting on my New Year’s Eve hotspot list such as Rio de Janeiro, Mount Kilimanjaro and Everest Base Camp, but here are a few other suggestions I found on the web today… Which one would you choose?
New York, New York
Watching the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop in Times Square must make for a memorable night, if you can stand the freezing temperatures!
London
I am British and I have never spent New Year’s Eve in London – is that even legal? Listening to the chimes of Big Ben while standing on the banks of the Thames with 250,000 others sounds like a good start to a New Year to me!
Las Vegas
Las Vegas is the party capital of the world, and so one can only imagine how wild things get on New Year’s Eve – Party!!
Rio de Janeiro
This one is right up there on my own list, and the idea of spending 31st December on Copacabana Beach with two million all-singing, all-dancing Brazilians sounds like fun to me!
Maldives
If your idea of the perfect New Year’s Eve includes a beach and a bottle of something fizzy, the Maldives is a great place to start!
Where will you be heading this New Year’s Eve? Drop us a line and let us know!
I’d really like to try out Hogmanay in Edinburgh one of these years, and Berlin is also on my list of places to go to. Paris last year was “ok”, but no fireworks on the Eiffel tower!
Madrid, in the Puerto del Sol; don’t forget your 12 grapes for the count down to the new year. If you like fireworks, and I do, Munich is amazing!
Thanks Andrea, I have done New Year in Spain many times, but never managed to get all 12 grapes in my mouth in time! 🙂 Must try Munich!
Me neither!!! Don’t know how they do it!
Celebration with family is best celebration. If we aren’t able to arrange and manage to visit some destination then we have a chance to celebrate it with our family and parents.
You are right Antonia! I hope you are one of lucky ones that has family close by… 🙂
