My favourite place in Thailand, Chiang Mai is one of those cities where you can do as much or as little as you like.
A city of vibrant contrasts, Chiang Mai homes over 300 ancient temples, some of Thailand’s newest hotels and the trendiest bars in Southeast Asia, but they are all clumped together in a mishmash of old world meets new, which makes for a very interesting holiday destination.
Many travellers use Chiang Mai as a stopover on-route to Vietnam (via Laos), but as we found out, this pretty city, voted on of the “25 Best Destinations in the World” by TripAdvisor, has so much to offer that most travellers extend their stay, and some never go back home…
We visited a variety of animal sanctuaries (some we would recommend, others not!), many beautiful temples including the famous Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, watched a Thai Boxing Match, and ate some of the best Thai food we have ever tasted.
The highlight of our six-week trip throughout the “Land of Smiles”, Chiang Mai is Thailand at its best…
Looks like a photographer’s paradise 🙂 Thanks a lot for sharing the info. and images.
You are very welcome Sreejith! Glad you enjoyed…! 🙂
I was in southern Thailand last week. It’s been a few years since I was in Chiang Mai, but your photos brought back some great memories. Lovely city!
Thanks ‘A Glass Half Full’, I cannot wait to return! 🙂
