We would like to wish all of our friends and fellow Equatorians across the pond a very Happy Thanksgiving!
A day to give thanks, eat Turkey and Pumpkin Pie, watch American Football and watch Macy’s Annual Parade – Thanksgiving is all about celebrating the good things in life, and so it is no surprise that one in six Brits now celebrate Thanksgiving too!
Turkey sales are up by 95% according to Waitrose, #Happythanksgiving is trending on Twitter across the UK, and restaurants across the country are offering special Thanksgiving Menus for both expats who are currently living in the UK and Brits who want to join in the fun!
An estimated 200,000 American citizens now live in Great Britain and it seems our shared love of the English language, good food, and any excuse to party has led to a “special relationship” between our two great nations.
So, wherever you are in the world, we hope you have much to give thanks for, and if you didn’t get Turkey today, don’t worry – it’s nearly Christmas!
Happy Thanksgiving to you. Didn’t realize it was catching on in the UK.
Thanks Beachbums! Brits love any excuse for a party! 😉
