The results of the Telegraph Travel Survey 2014 were released earlier this week, and if you want to spend your 2015 holiday in the world’s best city or the world’s best country, you need to head below the equator to South Africa or New Zealand.

Almost 90,000 people voted for their favourite travel destinations in the Telegraph Travel Awards, making it the world’s biggest reader travel survey.  In addition to destinations, participants also voted for a variety of different categories including best long-haul airline, best cruise line, and best hotel chain.

Cape Town picked up the title of the World’s Best City, and if you are looking for a great value holiday destination for 2015, there is no better place on earth than South Africa’s Mother City. We were not surprised to see New Zealand pick up the title of the World’s Best Country, and if you are looking for a self-drive adventure in 2015, you might struggle to find anywhere better!  A country of two completely different islands, New Zealand has much to offer the intrepid traveller, and whether you are looking for non-stop action or a relaxing trip into nature, you will find it all in abundance in New Zealand.
