Walking with Lions in the Serengeti Plains

on

For most travellers, the thrill of seeing lions during their African safari holiday is the highlight of their trip. Every bit as powerful and beautiful in real life as they are on the National Geographic Channel, lions really are the king of the jungle, and yet they are not as easy to find as one might think, and seeing them in all their glory is not guaranteed…unless of course, you head to the Serengeti!

According to the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Serengeti Plains home more than 4,000 lions, and so the chances of seeing them during a 2 or 3-day safari are exceptionally high. During our most recent visit to the Serengeti, we were literally inundated with lions, and were greeted with our first pride just moments after driving through the National Park gates.

If you are looking for a truly  authentic African safari experience, there is probably no better place to do it than Tanzania’s Serengeti Plains, and if you dream of seeing lions thriving in their natural habitat, this could be the best place to start.

Here a just a few of the lions we came across during our 2-day Serengeti Safari…
