Congratulations Mark Beaumont: Around the World by Bicycle in 78 Days!

Well, he did it! A huge congratulations goes out to Mark Beaumont today, who has just completed the Guinness World Records fastest world circumnavigation by bicycle, which he did in just 78 days, 14 hours and 40 minutes!

It seems like 5-minutes ago that Mark left the Arc de Triomphe on his epic round-the-world cycle tour, but we first blogged about his journey on 9th July 2017, and this awe-inspiring human being has been on the road ever since!

During that time, he has cycled through 16 different countries, covered 18,032 miles (29,020km), and spent up to 14 hours a day in the saddle in a bid to beat the current Guinness World Record, and we are delighted to see that he smashed it!

Mark’s aim was to cycle around the world in 80 days, but here he is, almost 2 days early, and looking surprisingly fit for a man who has just cycled 240 miles per day, every day, for the past 11+ weeks!  A mind-blowing achievement for any cycling enthusiast, it just goes to show that with the right mindset, training and support anything is possible…!

On his Facebook Page, Mark made the following statement, “Huge thanks to all the supporters, support teams and sponsors throughout this incredible journey! We made the impossible possible.”

You can read all about Mark Beaumont’s Around the World in 80 Days Tour on the official Artemis World Cycle website, or on Mark’s own website, but in the meantime, here are a couple of inspiring images that will make you want to jump on your bike right now….
