We may be having an Indian summer in the Austrian Alps this year, but we only have a few weeks to go until we step into winter, and while I am sure many of you are looking forward to the Austrian Ski Season, I personally am looking forward to a break somewhere a whole lot warmer!
Winter might be pretty, especially in the Alpine Regions of the world, but that prettiness comes with freezing cold temperatures, dark mornings, and ice-covered windscreens, and after years of living in the warmer climes of the Southern Hemisphere, I still cannot get used to the cold.
So if, like me, you feel the need to ‘spice up’ this winter, there is one place where you are pretty much guaranteed warm sunshine, beautiful beaches, delicious food, and endless spice markets, and that is the picture perfect island of Zanzibar.
The gem of Tanzania, Zanzibar is a stunning winter holiday destination, and if you intend to Climb Kilimanjaro, take a Serengeti Safari, or go Gorilla Tracking in Rwanda this Christmas, you might want to add a couple of days on the pure white beaches of the Island of Spice, before heading back to the blustery winds of Blighty!
