The 23rd World Travel Awards took place in Sardinia on 4th September 2016, and if you are about to book your 2017 holiday, you might want to take a peek at the long list of category winners who picked up their prestigious awards at what is widely referred to as “the Oscars of the Travel Industry”.
Voted for by a jury of hospitality experts, the World Travel Awards covers multiple categories across 5 continents, and while some of the winners may come as a shock to international travellers (Lufthansa was voted best European Airline, for example!), others come as no surprise at all.
